Friends Of KHC

Want to get involved? Here’s how…veranda-example

Being part of a close-knit community is very important to Ken Health Care and the clients who come to us.  For many of our seniors, the social aspect of being part of a community matters, therefore we welcome the community in.

Being a Ken Health Care ‘friend’ can take many forms and will undoubtedly enrich your life. Many of us are starting to recognise that our seniors are precious gems – with amazing untold stories to tell about their life experience. They can also offer insight into our cultural and local history, often with humour and this is one of the reasons that we invite you to befriend our residents.  We need to pass their knowledge down to our current and future generations!

Usually at the end of every month on a Sunday afternoon, from 2pm – 4pm we invite you to visit us as part of our formal Friends of Ken Health Care programme.  However, if that doesn’t suit, we also encourage you to volunteer in whatever way you would like such as coming along to play board games or to read to residents or to help them in our vegetable plot – or even to simply chat over a cool drink.
